Ford Synus

Ford SynusThe Ford SYNus is an idea car produced by Ford Motor Company and made by Spanish designer Jose Paris and Joe Baker. The SYNus debuted at the 2005 northern US Global car Show. The surprising name, which is related "sin-you-ehs", comes from the words synthesis (synthesis from the difficult exterior to the soft interior) and US stands for Urban Sanctuary. Its name is a homophone of sinewy, meaning curving, or stylish. There are two sides of the name that were allegedly not considered by Ford: if mispronounced (on a newscast or in conversation), the name may read as "sinus." And if folk decide to shorten the name, you finish up with "SYN" (or "sin”). Both misinterpreted versions of the name would have negative connotations.

Design

The design mimics that of an armadillo, in that it's got a difficult exterior and a soft interior. Armadillo was a unconfirmed title of the SYNus, but was dropped when it was found that there had been another idea automobile from Fiat with this title. Other production names have included "Ford Knox" and "Gorilla". The SYNus shares its powertrain design with the Ford Mondeo. The engine is a diesel powered, 16 valves, turbocharged, 2.0L DOHC 4-cylinder Duratorq TDCi Diesel engine that produces 134 hp (one hundred kW).

The SYNus has a 5 gear manual transmission. Its wheels are eighteen inches (457 mm) in diameter. It has an IEEE 802.11g compliant wireless LAN center. The SYNus was built to maximise safety, and derives its classy from modern bank vaults. The auto's windows and frame are bullet-resistant. It has no back window, and instead displays a video eat a huge LCD display installed in the back of the automobile's interior.
Also, when in "lockdown mode" steel window shutters close round the front windscreen, windows and the exterior lights. The auto also, as discussed earlier, is an "Urban Sanctuary".
When in "lockdown mode", the auto's seats can be set up to face rearwards, to observe films or relax in otherwise busy city life. In this sense, the vehicle may be employed to close out the exterior world.
